Mr. McCarthy founded Energi, Inc. and Energi Insurances Services, Inc. in 2006 and currently serves as the President and CEO. Mr. McCarthy has led the Company on a significant growth trajectory from an industrial reinsurance entity and into a virtual insurance company with expansion across the U.S. and internationally. The Company has been recognized by Business Insurance Best Places to Work and the Boston Globe Top Places to Work. In 2011, Mr. McCarthy was invited to participate in the CEO Roundtable: White House Better Buildings Challenge Initiative with President Obama & President Clinton. Beginning in 1983, Mr. McCarthy established his own independent insurance agency that led to the development of Conifer Companies in 2001. At Conifer, he gained expertise in captive program development and alternative risk management programs. Earlier in his career, Mr. McCarthy was the founder of an Internet-based insurance distribution company that developed the first online insurance application. He has served on several insurance association boards, and currently serves on the Board of Directors of the North Shore Chamber of Commerce.

Donald J. FitzGerald

Mr. FitzGerald is the Chief Financial Officer of Energi Inc., and serves as a Director of Energi RE, LLC.  During his seven year tenure, he has been instrumental in building the Company’s captive management capabilities and in securing financing to support the Company’s growth.  Previously, Mr. Fitzgerald held the position of Director of Finance with Bostik Findley, Inc., a subsidiary of Total SA, a global energy company based in Paris, France. In this capacity, he was responsible for all financial operations for a $160 million division with operations throughout North America and served as a member of a large group insurance program that provided risk management to all of Total’s subsidiaries throughout the US. Previously, Mr. FitzGerald served as Corporate Controller of Xyvision, Inc., a publicly held technology company, where he raised $25 million in a successful European bond offering. Mr. FitzGerald holds a BS in Accounting from Bentley College and an MBA from Babson College.

Patricia K. Boudrot

Ms. Boudrot has been an insurance professional for over twenty-five years. During her tenure at Energi, she has organized and led the development of the infrastructure of the organization including technology, human resources, compliance and finance. Currently, she manages the following operations: Information Technology, Systems Applications, Policy Processing, Facilities, Human Resources and Education & Training. Previously, as the CFO of Conifer Companies and the B.K. McCarthy Insurance Agency, Ms. Boudrot managed the financial, accounting, and information systems for both organizations. Initially, she joined the B.K. McCarthy Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1986 as Chief Financial Officer. She served as president and Chief Executive Officer from 1998 to 2000. Her professional knowledge in agency automation systems played a major role in product development for Insurance Holdings of America, Inc. online insurance application. Ms. Boudrot graduated cum laude from Salem State University.

Richard Metivier

Mr. Metivier serves as the Senior Vice President of Distribution, responsible for all Energi Regional Distribution teams.  He has been in the insurance industry for over twenty years. He has been instrumental in organizing a national distribution network of agents and brokers for the Energi Programs.  He previously served as Vice President of National Accounts and as a Regional Vice President for Insurance Holdings of America. Insurance Holdings was a pioneering e-commerce company that formed alliances with a major retailer and auto manufacturer. Prior to that he was an account executive for B.K. McCarthy Insurance Agency where he established the energy practice for the company. Mr. Metivier graduated cum laude from Salem State University.

Tracy W. Bernard

Ms. Bernard is Senior Vice President of Underwriting and is responsible for both ceded and assumed third party reinsurance. Ms. Bernard works in conjunction with reinsurance partners to determine optimal net retentions and to develop cost effective reinsurance strategies to protect that net retention. Prior to joining Energi in 2013, Ms. Bernard was an Assistant Vice President at Aon Benfield, formerly Benfield, Inc., where she spent 7 years working as a treaty reinsurance broker, placing large, complex reinsurance treaties for some of the world’s largest insurance companies. Ms. Bernard has also worked in primary insurance brokerage, both wholesale and retail, specializing in the Energy, Marine, Transportation and Environmental industries. Ms. Bernard holds a BS in Business Administration from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.

Maria Pinto

With over twenty-years as an insurance industry professional, Ms. Pinto manages and directs the Client Services Operations at Energi. Under her leadership, the team provides a high level of service to Energi’s agents/brokers, strategic partners, and policyholders.  Previously, Ms. Pinto has managed the retail and wholesale brokerage business relationships for Conifer Companies and Conifer Energy where she gained an expertise in the fuel distribution industry. Initially, Ms. Pinto joined the B.K. McCarthy Insurance Agency, Inc. in 1986 in the Business Insurance division where she managed customer service departments. She was promoted to unit manager and later to Vice-President before being appointed president of the firm’s Business Insurance division in 1999.

Edward Scott

Mr. Scott joined Energi in 2007 as the leader of Marketing and Industry Relations.  He has been an owner and officer of Scott Oil Co., Inc., a retail Home Heating Oil Company in Massachusetts since 1975. Mr. Scott has been active in various oil industry associations for many years. He is the past chairman and currently serves on the board of the Massachusetts Oilheat Council, where he is also a member of their executive, nominating and legislative committees. Additionally, Mr. Scott is a board member of the New England Fuel Institute where he serves on the executive, finance, nominating and legislative committees, and is currently the secretary of the organization. A founding member of the National Oilheat Research Alliance, Mr. Scott has also been a board member of the East Coast Energy Council. He also served on the board of the Massachusetts Trade Self Insurance Group which is a workmen’s compensation self-insurance group. Mr. Scott is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross.

Justin P. Russo

Mr. Russo has been with Energi Insurance Services, Inc., formerly Conifer Energy, since 2002 and has been instrumental in pioneering Energi LIVE, which is an interactive customized risk management portal developed by Energi. As the leader of the Safety & Loss Prevention team, he has developed many risk management tools for fuel distribution, energy transportation, and energy construction programs that have minimized losses. Mr. Russo is an authorized OSHA Instructor and National Safety Council Trainer.  In addition to training thousands of employees, he has been a guest speaker for industry associations such as Best Practices Group, New York Propane Gas Association, and Propane Gas Association of New England. Prior to joining Energi, he worked for a medical regulatory compliance company developing hazard communication and various safety programs for medical facilities.  Mr. Russo is a graduate of Keene State College with a BS in Occupational Safety and Business Management. Recently, he participated in the Environmental Council of States (ECOS) State Environmental Protection: Hydraulic Fracturing in Focus conference and the Oil & Gas Drilling Symposium.

Robert D. Woods Jr.

Mr. Woods has over 43 years of claims experience including all areas of Commercial and Personal Lines claims. At Energi, Mr. Woods manages all aspects of claims management, and has led the successful development of numerous cutting edge claims initiatives including the claims portal to allow online access for both Energi’s brokers and policyholders.  He has strengthened the claims handling process which includes dedicated staff from our TPA in Energi’s offices.  Previously, he has held senior claim leadership roles at both OneBeacon and CNA Insurance companies.  Mr. Woods has extensive experience in developing and implementing claim automation programs and has spoken nationally at both the ACORD and LOMA conferences.  He is a graduate of Northeastern University with a BSBA in Management.

Kevin Kaminski

Mr. Kaminski serves as the leader of our International Programs, including Canada, as well as the Alternative Energy Solutions Group.  He has an engineering background and experience working in multiple segments of the energy industry. At Energi, as the leader of the AES, he has developed the Energy Savings Warranty, Manufacturers Product Warranty, Output Performance Warranty, and Solar Installation Performance Warranty programs. Prior to joining Energi, Mr. Kaminski monitored various types of power plants for General Electric Power Systems, including gas, oil, nuclear, wind and hydro. He is a graduate of the Massachusetts Maritime Academy, holding degrees in Marine Engineering and Facilities Engineering.

Timothy Kolojay

Mr. Kolojay serves as the President of Energi RE, LLC. He served as President and Consulting Actuary of Insurance Industry Consultants, and has served in numerous leadership roles encompassing risk management in the financial services and insurance industries. Mr. Kolojay holds membership in the American Academy of Actuaries, the Casualty Actuarial Society, and the Association of Risk Management. He is a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, and has served as President of the Casualty Actuaries of New England, served as board member of United Security Assurance Company of Pennsylvania, and has been a featured speaker at many insurance symposiums, most notably involved with the alternative markets. Mr. Kolojay graduated from Duke University and holds an MBA from Southern New Hampshire University (formally New Hampshire College).

Mr. McCarthy is a Vietnam combat veteran and earned the Bronze Star for meritorious service against an armed hostile force. He is a retired Major in the U.S. Army Reserve.
